What is 5-MEO-DMT?
5-MeO-DMT (5-Methoxy-N, N-dimethyltryptamine) is a powerful psychedelic compound found in various plants and the secretions of various toads. It is chemically similar to DMT (N, N-dimethyltryptamine) but has distinct effects and a shorter duration. 5-MeO-DMT is known for its intense, short-lived, and often transformative psychedelic experiences. It primarily acts as a serotonin receptor agonist.
Incilius alvarius, often incorrectly referred to as Bufo alvarius or simply bufo, is a semi-aquatic amphibian found in the Sonoran Desert of Mexico and the Southwestern United States. The skin glands of this toad secrete over a dozen tryptamine derivatives, including bufotenin and 5-MeO-DMT (5-methoxy-dimethyltryptamine), though they do not produce DMT (N,N-dimethyltryptamine). Bufotenin and 5-MeO-DMT are two potent psychedelic compounds.
