About Juan Paris

Personal explorations with the support of master plants, ancestral medicines and practices, and other psychedelics are supporting me in a better (and ongoing) understanding of myself but more difficult to summarize in a short text. 

I am Venezuelan, with a family history of people on the move. I’m currently based in Barcelona, Spain, whilst my personal ties are still in various parts of the world. 

As a figure of support, I am a medical doctor, specialised in adult and young people’s psychiatry, and psychotherapy with a practice that has in the course of the years focused progressively more on the support of people with histories of migration, and those who’ve survived violence and/or traumatic events or personal histories, that I’ve had the privilege of doing so in various countries and cultural contexts, from Latin America, to Europe, and the Middle-East.

In the last years, I’ve started a path of learning to include the support of expanded states of consciousness in my therapeutic practice, as well as supporting and accompanying others in their preparation, through the experience, and in integrating their consciousness explorations. This I’ve sought through personal exploration, learning, and training, and formalized through training in Augmented Psychotherapy (APT) through the MIND Foundation in Berlin, the integration training held by the International Center for Ethnobotanical Education, Research and Service (ICEERS), as well as through the therapy models of ongoing clinical trials. 

My current practice is with migrated people in public services in Barcelona, in research with psychedelic compounds, and in private practice providing general psychiatric and psychotherapeutic mental health support as well as psychedelic-based therapies.

Juan Paris's approach to integration

Integration is a call to accept an ongoing, maybe life-long, process, that should strive to be mindful and compassionate with our everyday experiences and how they create our flowing and ever-changing sense of self. 

For the purposes of psychedelic integration, I would aim to accompany you in making meaning, and welcoming to the flow of who you are, of what was experienced within your expanded state of consciousness in all its vastness (from the subtle, minimal or specific, to the extraordinary, overwhelming, or universal) and moulding it into core and guiding values that support this ongoing process, life!

Techniques will and I expect to be varied, so as to adapt to each person where they are, in what they need, and where they can thrive or may need a bit of challenge, so the flexibility of mind and consciousness can be the fertile ground for growth.
