About the Breathwork
Breathwork is a practice involving intentional alterations of your breathing pattern to influence your mental, emotional, and physical state. It has roots in various traditions and disciplines, from ancient Eastern practices like yoga and meditation to modern psychotherapeutic techniques. The practice encompasses a range of breathing methods designed to induce relaxation, improve mental clarity, and promote emotional healing.
Odin will offer different arts of breathwork: under breathing for nervous system down-regulation and over breathing for emotional processing. The session will often take the form of a breathwork flow practice, moving through forms of breathing and making sure everyone leaves the container in a regulated way. It will mostly be guided with music.
This week: expect a dynamic breathwork session exploring the power of over-breathing, in combination with breath holds.
What to expect?
- Emotional Release and Healing: It can facilitate the release of repressed emotions, leading to increased emotional well-being and reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression.
- Stress Reduction: By activating the parasympathetic nervous system, breathwork can help reduce stress and promote relaxation.
- Improved Physical Health: Enhanced breathing techniques can improve oxygenation of the body, boost energy levels, and strengthen the immune system.
- Increased Self-awareness and Mindfulness: Engaging in breathwork can enhance mindfulness, helping practitioners become more aware of their internal states and thought patterns.
- Spiritual Connection: Many find that breathwork provides a pathway to experiencing a sense of connectedness with something greater than themselves, deepening spiritual awareness.
